Segmented 90°
Mitered pipe elbows, 2 to 6 piece. Pick the pieces and the radius (or measure a side segment) and it does the elbow rule and the reference drawing.
Inputs
From the Knauf chart, or type your own
Bend centre to the pipe centreline
Or enter the side length of a middle segment, measured
0Divisions along heel
0Angle of rise
0Half side segment (line 5)
0Circumference
0Space (1/16)

Patterns
- Draw a baseline the length of the circumference, , and divide it into 16 equal parts. Number them 1 to 9 and back to 1. On very large sizes use half the circumference in 8 parts, 1 to 9.
- End pieces: mark each distance from the table up from the baseline on its line. Join the marks smoothly.
- Middle pieces: draw a centreline instead and mark the middle-piece distance on both sides of it.
- This is the insulation template. For jacketing, add a 3" lap on the circumference and ¾" for crimp, dog ears or notches on the segment seams.
- You need 2 end pieces and middle pieces.
Method: Advanced Metal Jacketing (IIIATF), Task B.6, Segmented 90° Elbow. Divisions along heel = pieces × 2 − 2; angle of rise = 90° ÷ divisions. Check the first piece on the job before cutting a batch.
